Dan Hinkley describes as “staggering” the benefits that general horticulturists receive from those who commit their energies to a single genus. Though there may be some “special” benefits for members, most of you joined to further FRCC’s mission to advance and promote the knowledge and enjoyment of clematis through one of the largest assemblages of clematis in the Western Hemisphere.
Joining the FRCC has many intangible benefits like making new and interesting acquaintances, developing warm friendships, and being surrounded by curious people who are knowledgeable in the field and who have the same interest in the genus that you do. Your membership ensures the mission of FRCC to promote and advance the joy of growing the genus through education and preservation.
Membership dues support the maintenance and expansion of this unique collection.
The more members we have the more we can do to improve and stabilize the collection. Don’t forget to add a friend or family member to your membership for just an additional $10. Or increase your membership to the Patron level ($100).
All members receive the twice-yearly newsletter that includes information on what’s in bloom, special articles, seasonal tips for maintaining your own clematis garden, and information on upcoming events. Patron level members have increased access to the collection, pay no fees for classes, receive a selection of clematis species seeds along with instructions on how to start them, and also are sent the monthly curator’s report.
Please be one of our best ambassadors and mention FRCC to friends, neighbors, fellow gardeners, or local citizens interested in improving their community with such a collection. As a member there are many ways to volunteer, from computer work to watering and fundraising. Join in and enjoy learning and meeting new people in the community.
