A note about nomenclature: Readers will notice that some of the following clematis names have single quotes around them and others do not. Those names having quotes are verified cultivar names as they appear in the most current updates to the 2002 RHS Clematis Register and Checklist. Those without quotes are trade names or registered trademarks, and should never appear with quotes (nurserymen, take note), as those names have no botanical standing. Names in all lower case are species names–we are working on getting these italicized, as they should be. We could put trademarks in all caps, but that looks like shouting!
