FRCC Will Rock You

Posted by LindaB on Wednesday, January 2, 2008

On Saturday, February 9, 2008 FRCC is partnering with stonemason Chris Crawford to offer a class in the ancient craft of laying dry-stack stone walls. The class will run from 9 am to 5 pm, and the cost of this all day, hands-on workshop is $138.00, which includes your lunch.

The class will be held at Luscher Farm in Lake Oswego, where we have identified areas appropriate for this building technique. On the west side of our greenhouse the class, lead by Chris, will construct a low (24″ tall) wall which will later be filled with a sharp-draining soil mix to both create a planting bed for New Zealand clematis and to halt erosion around the footings of the greenhouse. We particularly hope that attendees will be inspired to take their new skills home for future garden projects.

To register visit www.lakeoswegoparks.org or call 503-675-2549. You may pay by VISA/Mastercard or mail in a check after calling to register. Our course number is 1325800. Please dress for the weather, as we plan to go forward with the class unless the weather is extremely harsh.

Please join with us in thanking Lew Smith of Smith Rock, on SE Johnson Creek Blvd, for their 50% discount of the rock for this class. Visit Smith Rock, it is a wonderful place! If you would like to know more about Chris Crawford and classes he has offered in the past, visit www.chriscrawfordrocks.com.
