HPSO hosts Rogerson Clematis Collection’s curator Linda Beutler for a look at the early life Brewster Rogerson, and early years of collecting. Brewster is the eponymous founder of the Collection, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. In 1971 Brewster bought his first four clematis (all at once), liking the idea of having his newly built home in Manhattan Kansas appear from the road as a vine-covered cottage. He went on to meet all the right people to steer him onto the road of plant obsession.
